Hi, I’m Heather Stanford. You can call me Your Legal Fairy Godmother. I’m a dispute resolution and contracts lawyer, specialising in helping small to medium enterprises with contract terms and business management solutions. Basically, I do the legal bits you don’t have time (or desire!) to wrap your head around. From GDPR to business audits, I can help to protect your business, avoid disputes, and save you money.

I qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and then spent 20 years in private practice. Initially working in general litigation, I then specialised in commercial dispute resolution. I understand how to resolve issues regarding commercial property, employment, contracts for goods and services, disputes between directors and shareholders and more. I have also run a law firm as Managing Partner and been Operations & Business Manager within an SME. This experience means I have first-hand knowledge of the various demands and pressures of running a business.

What makes Stanford Gould great?

As a contracts lawyer (non practising solicitor)  I identify and solve a variety of problems for you and your business. This solutions-based approach underpins my work at Stanford Gould and is the reason I’m able to help such a wide range of clients.

I’m proud to have a reputation as someone who simply gets on with things.  I’m down to earth, logical and unflappable. I see exactly what needs to be done and deliver just that.

Small businesses often operate without dedicated marketing, business development, HR or IT departments. Often, everyone needs to be willing to wear several hats.  So, if you find that suddenly there are more hats than available heads, what do you do?  You call Stanford Gould!

What does a contract lawyer do in her spare time?

When I’m not at work, I enjoy cooking, non-competitive distance running, funk and soul music and gardening. I live in Derbyshire with my Sunderland AFC obsessed husband and my two marvellous children.
